Description
With an assembly of today’s chart topping pop artists converging under one roof, one can only expect a litany of jaw dropping and illuminating performances to please the eyes and ears.  At the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, held on May.22, 2016, Pyrotek was more than happy to be part of this spectacular event, providing the wide variety of special effects solutions that a gathering of this stature invariably demands. This year’s visually-arresting affair was hosted in the heart of the lively Las Vegas strip at the newly-opened, state-of-the-art T-Mobile Arena and this created a party atmosphere that was fitting for the first nationally-televised event to be broadcast from this great venue.  Kicking it all off was pop icon Britany Spears, offering up a symphonic medley of her classic hits from the moment she emerged dramatically on stage amidst dense fog effects in a red military style jacket and top, riding an oversized mechanical guitar as bursts of silver gerbs rained down behind her.  The eye-catching performances kept flowing as the night went on with stars such as Justin Bieber and his kaleidoscope of colorful cryo jets enhancing his chanting of Company & chart topper Sorry.  One of the most impressive acts of the evening without question was power woman Pink with her rendition of Alice Through the Looking Glass, bringing down the house with her pendulum swings above the crowd and knocking it out of the park as she elevated atop a giant clock, which had specialized custom flame effects surrounding the colossal timepiece.  The Pop rock band DNCE, led by Joe Jonas made the fans see red, surrounded by numerous crimson spheres as fusillades of confetti showered down to create a dazzling reaction along with striking laser beams. When you have such a diverse group of artists and musicians, in a compressed one-night window, helping to bring these performances to life is no small feat. But with our large arsenal of special effects products and services, Pyrotek and the professionals we work with, met the challenge.  We’re already looking forward to next year.
